Jintai Village is a reconstruction project by Rural Urban Framework (RUF) in China’s Sichuan Province. It is comprised of 22 houses and a community centre, which are built over an area of
4,000m
2

The village is located
near Guangyuan
, one of the places hardest hit by the
Wenchuan Earthquake in 2008
. During the reconstruction effort, the region was hit by aftershocks and heavy rainfall, triggering a series of landslides that destroyed what had just been rebuilt.

The project is part of a movement to promote rural revitalization, a counter-narrative to the
rapid
urbanisation
of China. The aim of the project was not just to rebuild, but to build better and create a prototype for sustainable rural living that mediates between the scale of the traditional community and urban development.

The design aims to link the villagers daily lives with the
ecological cycle
, incorporating rainwater collection, natural water filtration and biogas collection.
